Starting as early as preschool and kindergarten, regular attendance is essential for students gaining the academic and social skills they need to thrive. Research shows that when students are chronically absent (missing 10% or more of the school year or 18 days over an entire school year), they are less likely to read proficiently by third grade, achieve in middle school and graduate from high school.

Let’s work together to make every moment count and harness the power of consistent attendance!
Last week, your student learned more about our new phone policy here at Mattson. As part of our commitment to engage families, we wanted to send you some information regarding our new phone policy and ways that you can let your voice be heard regarding phones in our school. Please check your email which will have a more detailed explanation of our new policy. Phones are allowed during passing period and lunch. If there is a reason that a student may need their phone, students are encouraged to reach out to their teacher or a trusted adult to talk about possible next steps. Our hope is that by supporting students in keeping their phones out of sight, we will provide more robust opportunities for learning in the classroom.
All KSD schools, buildings, and the Administration Center will be closed on Monday, September 2, in observance of Labor Day. Wishing everyone a safe and restful holiday!
