Make a Student Records Request

Kent School District (KSD) maintains records for the schools within the district. With written authorization, the district can provide student records and other public documents.

Some records are exempt from disclosure. For more information, please review common exemptions cited with the release of public records.

Request transcripts, diplomas, report cards, and all other student records from the school the student last attended.

Elementary Student Records

To request a report card copy, or other records, please contact the office of the elementary school the student is currently attending.

During the summer school closure, you may contact (253) 373-7134 to request a copy of your child’s records.

Secondary Student Records

To request a copy of your report card, DACA/“Dream Act” letter, or diploma, please contact the registrar’s office at the high school. They will often be able to provide you with these documents on-site, with advance notice.

Transcript Requests

Visit the school's Parchment website to place and track transcript orders. First-time visitors will be required to create a free account using an active email address.  

  • Current students: All students who are currently enrolled may request transcripts free of charge.

  • Recent graduates: Class of 2024 graduates may request transcripts free of charge through September 1, 2024.

  • Former students: Any former student who has graduated or withdrawn from the high school may request transcripts for a fee per Kent School District Procedure 3520P.

Students who attended the former Kent Mountain View Academy (KMVA) or Kent Phoenix Academy (KPA) can request transcripts from Kent Laboratory Academy.

Special Education Records Destruction Notification

In compliance with the Office of the Secretary of State, Washington State Archives/Public Schools Records Retention schedule, and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) regulations on destruction of data collected, maintained, or used in the provision of a free and appropriate public education of students with disabilities in the District's schools and per WAC 392-172A-05235, Kent School District, Inclusive Education Services, will retain Special Education records for six years after a student is exited from special education or withdraws from the district. A student aged 18 or older, who had an IEP or their parent, if the student is under age 18, can request their special education records by contacting specialedrecords@kent.k12.wa.us.

Destruction Schedule for Records Where the Parent Did Not Receive the Letter

Records will be destroyed in January 2030 for any remaining records where the student exited special education in 2016 or any prior years.
