Whether you're a Kent School District (KSD) employee seeking a transfer for your child or a family looking to request a school outside your boundary, we're here to guide you through the transfer process.

• 2024-2025: KSD is not accepting transfer applications, except for those related to childcare, change of address, or a special program.

• 2025-2026: Application windows open in February (students of KSD employees only), May, and August 2025.

Families can apply for enrollment at a non-boundary school at any time during the current school year for the purpose of childcare (elementary only), to remain at their current school after mid-year move for the remainder of the school year, and for enrollment in some special programs. 

Any student living in the Kent School District (KSD) boundaries may attend a different public school district (including those operating state-accredited online programs) if space is available in the requested district and school. Please review the process for requesting a transfer on the website of the district you are interested in attending prior to requesting a release from Kent.

Students who live within the KSD boundaries and wish to attend school in another district may submit the request through the Choice Transfer Portal or complete a Choice Transfer Request form. By state law, releases can be for only one school year at a time and must be renewed every school year.

Complete the fillable Choice Transfer Request form electronically and email it to ChoiceTransfers@kent.k12.wa.us
