Associated Student Body
ASB stands for Associated Student Body. According to state law, an ASB is a formal organization of students, including student groups such as student clubs, subject to the control of the district's board of directors. ASB activities are subject to state law (WACs and RCWs), school board policies and procedures, and individual ASB constitutions.
Final approval of ASB activities rests with the board of directors, but the students decide what activities will make up the ASB program as well as direct the intended use of any money raised.
As money generated by a public institution, ASB money is public money. It is subject to scrutiny and review of record keeping and financial records.
ASB Fund Balance & Extracurricular Activity Reports
Associated Student Body (ASB) funds are public monies raised on behalf of students, and are used for optional, extra-curricular events of a cultural, athletic, recreational, or social nature. These funds are not available for curricular, or graded student activities. In general, carryover amounts from one year to another are due to anticipated expenditures for student activities which take more than a year of fundraising.
An annual ASB Fund Balance Report is prepared for each school and reflects the detailed account balances beginning September 1. The report is unaudited, and may not reflect final ending balances for the year.
High School ASB Card & Athletic Participation Data
An annual ASB card and athletic participation report is prepared for each traditional high school with athletic programs. The report reflects the detailed numbers of students participating in athletics and purchasing ASB Cards compared to the number of students participating that are on Free or Reduced Lunch program beginning January 15, 2020. Future reports will be posted on April 15 of each year.
