We are pleased to present our 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year, Marisabel "Sabella" Curtis, a Dual Language Kindergarten teacher at Scenic Hill Elementary. Sabella was honored at a brief ceremony in her classroom last week. A third-year teacher, Sabella brings joy to her classroom where "smiles, laughter, and the occasional dance party are all a part of the daily routine," said Principal Harjeet Sandhu-Fuller. As one parent volunteer wrote, “It is teachers like Sabella Curtis that make students excited about learning and help parents to engage as partners in the process.” Congratulations to Sabella for embodying the educational mission of KSD! #OneTeam #OneKSD

March is Women's History Month! This year's theme is "Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations." KSD is thrilled to honor the many ways women educators, mentors, and leaders impact our students' lives. #OneTeam #OneKSD

Kentwood commercial art students visited the Museum of Pop Culture to learn about visual arts in multiple artistic fields. These include indie video games, music and music design (such as album covers, stage costumes, and flyers for shows), movie and TV set design, prop and costume design (mostly for genres like horror, fantasy, and science fiction), general design in pop culture, and an exhibit showcasing Keith Haring’s graffiti art. Students were asked to reflect on how skills learned in Commercial Art 1 could be applied to any number of artistic careers.

Mid-Winter Break is here! No school 02/17-18. ❄️ #MidWinterBreak

All schools and the administration campus are open today, Friday, February 14. Schools are starting and ending at their normal times with the exception of elementary schools that will release three hours early due to elementary conferences.
We urge everyone to dress warmly and exercise caution on the roads, in parking lots, and along walking routes and sidewalks.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for our area until 8:00 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, February 14. This weather system is expected to bring snow and freezing temperatures overnight and into the morning hours. Due to a scheduled three-hour early release for all elementary schools as part of elementary conferences, a two-hour delayed/late start cannot be implemented due to conflicts within our transportation system, which operates multiple routes for both elementary and secondary schools.
We encourage you to stay informed by checking local weather reports and monitoring your email or other preferred communication channels early tomorrow morning, Friday, February 14. In the event of any changes to school schedules or district operations, we will make a decision by 5:00 a.m. on Friday, February 14.

🌟 Students from River Ridge Elementary and Kentridge High School recently took the spotlight at a board meeting, presenting the development of enriching, sustainable, and inclusive physical spaces that are accessible, conscious of social and emotional learning needs, environmentally friendly, and culturally affirming for our students, families, and staff. #OneClass #OneKSD
